Adults are reported around 5 to 6 inches of leg span with a silver-gray sheen that builds over several molts; slings are plain brown, so the color is something you grow into. It is a deep burrower you will rarely see, which is the point for keepers who want a pet hole with real attitude at the door.

Spice Level 5: Extreme. Old World, fast, defensive, and the venom is medically significant. We treat it as keeper-only, no-handling territory and a display animal. Setup follows our Asian earth tiger protocol: a Baby Buddy packed deep with firm soil, a cork-roofed starter burrow, a damp lower layer under a dry top, cross vents and a small water dish. House alone, plan every lid opening, and have the catch cup in hand before the lid comes off. It bolts upward when disturbed, so open low over a table.
