Florida Bark Scorpion (Centruroides gracilis)
Scorpion
Solifuge
This fella needs ground cover and diggable depth first, so the best checkout pair is a deep Buddy with a starter hide.
Speed, attitude, color. Read the care guide before unboxing day.
Not a spider, not a scorpion: pure desert adrenaline
A Rhagodes solifuge out of the Egyptian desert: a “camel spider,” which is neither spider nor scorpion but its own ancient order of arachnid, built entirely around speed. Huge scissoring chelicerae up front, a high-revving metabolism, and a sprint that has to be seen to be believed. There is genuinely nothing else like watching one move.
Here is the honest part: solifuges have no venom at all, but those jaws are powerful and a bite is a real mechanical wound, so it is forceps-only and display-only. They are also notoriously tricky to keep long-term and naturally short-lived, so this is a specialty animal for an experienced keeper who wants the experience, not a beginner pet. Reach out to Big Z before you order; these have specific needs and we would rather set you up right.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
