The dark sister of the world’s most famous venom

The Black Deathstalker, Leiurus jordanensis, is the dark-bodied member of the Leiurus club, described out of the deserts of Jordan: muted amber fading to near-black instead of the straw-yellow of its infamous cousin L. quinquestriatus. Same genus, same league: barely three inches long, and carrying one of the most medically significant venoms of any scorpion alive.

This is a serious hot-keeper’s animal: no handling, ever, secure double-contained enclosure, and a clear-eyed understanding of what you are housing. For the experienced keeper it is a remarkable, beautiful desert predator.
