Deathstalker Scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus)

Scorpion
This fella needs ground cover and diggable depth first, so the best checkout pair is a deep Buddy with a starter hide.
Hottest in the house. Big Z's glad to walk through your enclosure plan with you before you commit. Just reach out.
Barely off the science bench, and built like a tank
One of the newest names in the hobby: Hottentotta sousai was only described in 2014, out of the arid Low Draa Valley in southern Morocco. It runs big for the genus, wears an unusually dense fur of sensory setae over the whole body (that is the “Giant Hairy”), and rides on stocky, low-profile tail segments: a stout, handsome desert buthid you almost never see for sale.
It sits right next to H. gentili on the family tree, and that is the part to respect: this is a fast, flighty, tail-up-when-pushed buthid with medically significant venom. A fascinating, captive-bred animal for a keeper who already runs hot species and wants something genuinely uncommon: strictly hands-off, secure enclosure, no exceptions, and Big Z is glad to look over your setup first.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
