North America's cog-backed assassin bug

Arilus cristatus, the Wheel Bug, is the largest true assassin bug in North America, instantly recognizable by the toothed, wheel-like crest on its back. A patient ambush predator, it stalks soft-bodied insect prey and drives home a piercing beak once it strikes.
