This is the heavyweight champion of the spider world: by mass, the largest spider that exists. A leg span the size of a dinner plate, a body the size of a fist, fangs you can hear click. The true Goliath, Theraphosa blondi, comes from the rainforests of the Guyana Shield, and seeing one in person rearranges your sense of scale permanently.
It backs the size up with a wall of urticating hairs (keepers wear gloves and goggles for maintenance, genuinely), a thunderous feeding response, and a willingness to stand its ground. Care itself is not hard (moist substrate, great ventilation, a big floor), but this is an intermediate-plus animal with no chill, and it will outgrow a starter kit into a serious custom enclosure.
