Millipede
This fella needs ground cover and diggable depth first, so the best checkout pair is a deep Buddy with a starter hide.
Burrow Buddy fits this fella as a juvenile, but they will outgrow it at around 5" length. Plan for a long horizontal enclosure with extra floor run; adults reach 6–8". DM Big Z anytime if you want help speccing the next step.
Hardy beginner pick with simple care. Pair with the matched habitat kit and the printable care guide.
Six-plus inches of deep iridescent blue
Acladocricus sp. “Philippine Blue” is a big tropical millipede (adults push past six inches) with a dark body that catches the light in a deep, almost oil-slick iridescent blue. From the Philippines, display-ready as a captive-bred adult, and a real showstopper for anyone who did not know millipedes came in blue.
Size aside, it is the same gentle, harmless, easygoing animal millipedes always are: a slow-rippling composter that eats its own substrate of hardwood leaf litter and rotting wood, content in a humid planted enclosure, with nothing more aggressive than a curl-up and a mild defensive secretion in its playbook. Big-and-beautiful, low-and-slow: a true centerpiece for a planted display.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
