Millipede

Spider
This fella is tiny enough that monitoring matters more than extra space, so the best checkout pair is the tiny square starter.
Slow, low-defense, easy care. A win for first-time keepers and family setups.
The arachnid that won the personality lottery
Phidippus regius, the Regal Jumping Spider, is the one that converts people. Eight eyes, full color vision, and a brain that runs more like a tiny cat than a bug: it tilts its head to look at you, tracks your finger across the glass, stalks prey on foot, and turns to watch things. It is the largest jumping spider in North America (females about an inch) and the undisputed star of the Big Z Kidz Zone.
It is also the single most beginner-friendly arachnid we sell. Captive-bred slings are rugged little eaters that grow fast on flightless fruit flies and pinhead crickets, and adults are famously chill about climbing onto a calm hand once they trust you. Give it a tall enclosure with anchor points up top (jumpers live in the upper third) and you have a curious, expressive, genuinely interactive little animal. Florida charm in a thimble.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
