Glossy red, prolific, and unbothered by anything

Trigoniulus coralinus, the Scarlet Millipede, is a tidy, glossy, orange-red tropical species that has spread across the warm parts of the world precisely because it is so adaptable. In a terrarium that translates to just about bulletproof: one of the cheapest, friendliest, most beginner-proof millipedes you can keep.

Totally harmless, peaceful, a tireless recycler of leaf litter and decaying wood, and genuinely pretty in a small group winding through a planted bioactive bin. It is a fantastic first millipede, a great kids-enclosure animal, and the kind of species that more or less runs itself once you have set it up. Low effort, high charm, real color.
