A flat-rock scorpion that wants cool, damp forest, not desert heat
Alloscorpiops sp. (cf. citadelle), the Thai Flat Rock Scorpion, is a small, flattened scorpion built for a life wedged into stone. At just 1/2 to 3/4 inch, it comes from the cool, humid limestone forests of Thailand, and it flips the flat-rock script. Forget Africa's dry-country Hadogenes: this is a montane forest animal that presses its low, pancake body into tight crevices and stays put, dark and quiet as the rock it hides in.
Temperament is easy on venom, tricky on husbandry. The sting is minor, bee-sting tier and not medically significant, so it sits at a beginner-friendly Spice 2, mild for a scorpion but a scorpion all the same. But this is a fast, delicate animal that is easy to injure, so keep it hands-off as a display piece, never a handling one. Give it cool temperatures, higher humidity than any desert scorpion, and stacked cork or slate cranked into tight crevices instead of deep digging substrate.
