Warnings First
- Mild venom, but strong and defensive. No handling: keep transfers tool-based.
- It digs and can undermine decor. Set heavy hides on the floor and bury around them so nothing collapses.
- Small instars drown in an adult-size dish. Put pebbles or coarse grit in the water dish.
- Pull all feeders when it goes off food, and never leave a cricket in during a molt.
- Don't keep it swampy. Vent low on two opposite walls so the damp lower layer doesn't stagnate and grow mold.

Enclosure & Microclimate
- An adult digs and roams, so give a genuinely large horizontal enclosure, about 8-10 gallons, with open floor.
- A sand/soil mix with some clay holds a burrow. It digs down to cooler, damper layers, so keep the surface dry and lightly water one corner.
- Vent low on two opposite walls, at or just above the substrate. In a big still box the far corners hold damp air, and that's where mold and cuticle problems start.
- Hold 50-60% with lightly damp lower layers and one watered corner, then let the vents flow. Closing up to chase a reading just gives stagnant corners.
- Check by hand: dry surface, lower layers that hold shape when squeezed without releasing water, a damper watered corner. Mist under the buried hide, not the floor.
Feeding, Growth & Maintenance
- Offer crickets or moderate roaches around body length, smaller for instars.
- Young eat every 4-7 days, adults every 1-2 weeks. Pull all feeders the moment it goes off food.
- Never leave a cricket in during a molt. A soft, pale fresh molt is helpless, so leave it completely alone until it hardens.
- It matures over several molts, then stops growing. Spot-clean boluses and feeder remains.
Possible Origin / Range
- Likely native range: Southern Oman, in the Dhofar region around Salalah: rocky semi-arid hills that catch the khareef monsoon, milder and damper than typical desert.
- Habitat translation: Monsoon-touched hills become a roomy semi-arid floor to dig, moderate temps with a gradient, a dry surface over a slightly damper lower layer, and stable buried retreats.

- Steady heat can stall molts: an animal kept at a constant 90°F fed well but wouldn't molt. The fix is moderate temps, a gradient and a night drop.
- Set decor in place before adding substrate. Adults can undermine loose structures.
- A moderate temperament doesn't loosen the rules. Tools only, with full venom and escape discipline.
- Family Diplocentridae. The southern Oman member of Nebo; most other Nebo live in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and the Levant.
