Tiny, climbs upside-down, glows like neon
The Arizona Bark Scorpion is North America’s most famous scorpion: a slender, pale, 2-to-3-inch desert specialist that does something almost no other scorpion does. It climbs, effortlessly, even hanging upside-down from a smooth surface. Centruroides sculpturatus lights up like a piece of fluorescent tubing under UV.
It is also genuinely venomous, the most medically significant scorpion in the US, so this is an advanced, hands-strictly-off, experienced-hot-keeper animal. They are fascinating colony animals that pile together in bark crevices. Treat the care guide as mandatory: it covers the secure enclosure, the no-handling rule, and the respect this little desert legend demands.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
