The original tree spider, and a genuine character
The Common Pinktoe, Avicularia avicularia, is the tarantula that put arboreal keeping on the map. Dark fuzzy body, a faint metallic sheen, and those trademark hot-pink toe tips like it dipped its feet in paint. Found across northern South America, often living right alongside people in palm crowns and rooftops.
It is docile and famously curious; keepers love that it builds elaborate silken tube-webs and actually comes out to investigate. Two quirks make it iconic: it can fling urticating hairs and it will fire a jet of waste at a threat with startling accuracy.
