Dominican Purple Tarantula for sale from Big Z's (Phormictopus sp. 'Dominican Purple'). Spice-rated keeper notes, care guidance, and live-arrival packing where eligible.
A Caribbean birdeater with a purple carapace.
Phormictopus sp. 'Dominican Purple' is an undescribed Phormictopus from Hispaniola sold under its trade name; grown animals show purple on the carapace and femurs over a bronze body. We keep it separate from the Haitian Brown. These arrived at 3 inches, well past the sling stage.
Spice Level 3: Intermediate. A wide terrestrial floor with substrate deep enough to dig into, a hide, and a water dish. Big appetite, fast growth, and this genus is quick to threat-pose and kick hairs. Watch-only, tool-only rehouse. Read the Big Z's care guide before it arrives.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
