Purple Pink Toe Tarantula for sale from Big Z's (Avicularia purpurea). Spice-rated keeper notes, care guidance, and live-arrival packing where eligible.
A pinktoe that grows out of the pink and into deep violet.
Avicularia purpurea is an arboreal pinktoe recorded from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and the name is a promise it keeps: grown animals carry a violet sheen across the whole spider that the pale toe tips only make more obvious. That is the species range rather than a claim about where these particular animals came from. These arrived at 0.5 to 0.75 inches, well before the colour comes in.
Air is the thing to get right. Pinktoes tolerate a slightly dry enclosure far better than a stuffy one, so build tall, give it genuine side-to-side ventilation, and anchor a vertical cork slab for it to web a retreat against. Keep water available and the moisture local rather than soaking the whole box. It is not a defensive spider, but it is quick and it will bolt or jump, so transfers happen with a catch cup in a closed room. Spice Level 3: Intermediate, and handling is not recommended. The matched Big Z's care guide covers the ventilation setup in detail.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →

Avicularia purpurea - Spice 3: Intermediate. Baby Buddy: fits the sling if you add side vents, not just the lid.; Bark Buddy: the right next size and shape for an arboreal like this.; Adult custom build: size to the spider; a front or side opening beats a top lid.
