About this Fella

Sunset Ghost Rider Millipede for sale from Big Z's (Alienostreptus bicoloripes). Spice-rated keeper notes, care guidance, and live-arrival packing where eligible.

Nearly a foot of jet-black climbing giant riding on sunset-orange legs

Alienostreptus bicoloripes, the Sunset Ghost Rider, is a glossy jet-black millipede from Vietnam's Central Highlands, and this is the warm sunset-orange leg form. Adults are true giants at 9 to 11 inches, all that black armor riding on rows of blazing orange legs. Only described to science in 2020, it turns up in the trade across several leg-color variants (Silver, Sunset, and Red or Inferno) that are all one species, so the color is the only thing that changes.

Gentle and completely harmless, though like most big millipedes it can seep a mild staining secretion, so keep handling calm and wash your hands afterward. This one is a semi-climber, which means it wants two zones: a deep, moist burrowing layer and a drier upper level with bark and branches to clamber over, plus leaf litter and rotten hardwood to graze on. That moisture gradient is why we call it an intermediate keeper's animal, a spectacular, docile display giant that rewards a build done right. The care guide walks you through the whole gradient setup.

The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
