Tarantula

Scorpion
This fella needs ground cover and diggable depth first, so the best checkout pair is a deep Buddy with a starter hide.
Burrow Buddy fits this fella as a juvenile, but they will outgrow it at full adult size. Plan for a larger custom terrestrial enclosure. DM Big Z anytime if you want help speccing the next step.
Hardy beginner pick with simple care. Pair with the matched habitat kit and the printable care guide.
Pancake-flat, crack-dwelling, and may outlive your other pets
Hadogenes scorpions are built like nothing else: squashed paper-flat, with a comically long, thin tail they barely bother to use, so they can vanish edgewise into a seam in a rock face. The Olive Keeled is the olive-toned, keeled-tail member of the club, and in captivity it does exactly what it does in the wild: wedge into a crevice and stay put.
Two things make Hadogenes legendary: ridiculously reduced venom (one of the mildest stings of any scorpion kept) and absurd longevity: decades are on the table with good care. It wants stacked flat slabs to live between, not deep substrate, and it grows slowly. Low drama, long haul, and totally unlike anything else on the shelf.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
Hadogenes paucidens - Spice 3 — Intermediate. Baby Buddy — for 2i–3i instars (escape-proof ventilation only); Burrow Buddy — as a grow-out for juveniles, kitted out with stacked flat cork or rock crevices and a humid pocket behind the rockwork; Larger horizontal floor for full-grown adults — this flat sprawler reaches 6–8 in and needs real floor space, not a vertical Bark Buddy
