About this Fella

Regal Jumping Spider for sale from Big Z's (Phidippus regius). Spice-rated with keeper notes, packed for live arrival where eligible.

Phidippus regius (Regal Jumping Spider)

The spider that watches you back. Regals are one of the biggest jumping spiders in North America, with huge forward-facing eyes, a fuzzy body and iridescent fangs, and they turn to track you every time you walk past. They hunt by sight, stalk crickets like a cat and pounce, and plenty of keepers say a regal has more personality than any tarantula on the shelf. Small, harmless to people and easy to set up, it is the best first spider you can buy. Every numbered listing is the exact spider in the photos, so pick the colors and markings you love and grab yours today.

Why do hobbyists keep Phidippus regius?

  • Personality: curious and bold. It follows your finger, watches you work and comes out to see what is going on.
  • Pick Your Spider: each numbered listing is one specific spider, photographed so you choose the exact one you want.
  • Kid Safe: mild venom and bites are rare. A great first spider for the whole family.
  • Desk-Sized Setup: a small, tall, vented enclosure is all it needs.

How should Phidippus regius be kept?

  • Adult Size: about 0.5 to 0.9 inch of body.
  • Enclosure: a small, tall, well-vented enclosure with twigs or cork up high for its silk hammock. Vent low on one wall and high on the opposite one, and keep the lid secure.
  • Temperature: 72 to 80 degrees F, with good room light but never direct sun.
  • Humidity: 55 to 70 percent with strong airflow. Keep the substrate dry.
  • Water: lightly mist one side wall every few days so it can drink the droplets. Never mist the spider.
  • Diet: small flies, roaches or crickets sized to the spider, every few days.
  • Temperament: calm and curious, but quick and easy to lose. Handling is not recommended; open the lid slowly.

Are there any additional notes or considerations?

  • You Get This Spider: the exact spider in the photos. Size/stage: Juvie - Adult, about 0.5-0.9" body. Sex is unconfirmed.
  • Wild-Caught: field-collected.
  • Molting: it seals itself into a thick silk hammock. Leave it alone, pull any feeders, and wait a few days after it comes out before feeding.
  • Lifespan: about 1 to 3 years, females longer.
  • Spice Level 1: Kid Safe. One spider, shipped live on FedEx Overnight. Live Arrival Guarantee on overnight orders.

The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
