Tapinauchenius plumipes, the Purple Tree Spider, is a tarantula despite the trade name: a slim South American arboreal with a purple-bronze sheen and feathered rear legs. These arrived at 3/4 to 1 inch.

Spice Level 3: Intermediate. Build tall with a vertical cork slab to retreat behind, a little substrate below, and cross ventilation. Not defensive, but this genus is among the fastest New World tarantulas and it will run straight up your arm and off the table. Catch-cup transfers only.
