About this Fella

Dodoma Baboon Tarantula for sale from Big Z's (Pterinochilus lugardi). Spice-rated keeper notes, care guidance, and live-arrival packing where eligible.

The baboon spider that is not an OBT.

Pterinochilus lugardi, the Dodoma Baboon, is the tan and grey member of the genus the orange OBT made famous. A Tanzanian burrower that webs its entrance and sits inside it. Keepers who have both usually call this one the calmer of the two, which still leaves it well inside baboon-spider territory. These arrived at 1 inch and up.

Spice Level 4: Advanced. Deep, dry-leaning substrate to dig into, a cork anchor, a small water dish, and a catch cup before the lid opens. Old World, fast, no urticating hairs, so it bites instead. No handling.

The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
