Tarantula

Philippine Tangerine Tarantula for sale from Big Z's (Selenobrachys philippinus). Spice-rated keeper notes, care guidance, and live-arrival packing where eligible.
The tarantula that moves in rather than digs in.
Selenobrachys philippinus, the Philippine Tangerine, got its name back in 2025 after years filed under another genus, and the field record that came with it is the useful part. Where most fossorial tarantulas excavate, this one was found occupying voids that were already there: gaps under boulders and cracks in the slope, on mountain ground near streams on Negros. Those are the species records rather than a claim about where these particular animals came from. Big Z's does not put a locality on a listing it cannot back. These arrived at 0.75 inches.
That one observation changes the build. Give it deep substrate that holds a shape, then hand it a retreat instead of waiting for it to dig one: a cork tube or a stone set into the surface, with a damp lower layer under a drier top and real cross ventilation moving through it. It is fast, Old World, and strictly no-handling, so the catch cup goes in before the lid comes off. Spice Level 4: Advanced. The matched Big Z's care guide has the full build.
The numbers live in the care guide. Enclosure size, temps, humidity, feeding schedule, premolt signs, handling boundaries: it's all in the care guide for this exact fella. Start with the full Advanced guide, or click for the quick Open the Simple version →
