Dolomedes okefinokensis, the Okefenokee Giant Fishing Spider, is the largest Dolomedes species on the continent: females reach a body over an inch with a leg span past 3 inches, and they hunt by feeling ripples from the edge of still water, then walking straight out onto the surface to grab prey.
