Giant Calico Millipede (Spirobolida sp. "Sulawesi Calico")

Giant Calico Millipede for sale from Big Z's (Spirobolida sp. "Sulawesi Calico"). Comes with a Spice rating and a care guide, and ships packed for the weather.

A glossy black Sulawesi giant banded in yellow-orange, with orange legs to match.

The Giant Calico Millipede comes in under the importer's label Spirobolida sp. "Sulawesi Calico": field collected on Sulawesi, Indonesia, about 5 to 6 inches long, glossy black with a yellow-orange band on each ring and orange legs. The species is not described, so the name is an order-level placeholder and the animal itself is the draw. Expect slow movement, long stretches underground and a slow settle-in; wild-collected adults want a quiet month.

Spice Level 3: Intermediate. No venom and no bite, but its defensive fluid can stain skin and must stay away from eyes and mouth, so wash your hands after any contact. The real work is the substrate: these animals eat their home. Build a deep bed of decomposed hardwood leaves and soft rotten wood before they move in, keep it damp below and drier on top, vent low on two walls, and skip the heat mat. No coco fiber as the bed. Never dig up a buried millipede; it is molting. Handling is not recommended; treat it as a display animal. The Big Z's care guide covers the full edible-substrate build.

What you get: one wild-caught Giant Calico Millipede at about 5 to 6 inches, unsexed. A Burrow Buddy fits a single or a pair; a group wants a deep custom tub. Ships live on FedEx Overnight with the Live Arrival Guarantee on overnight orders.

Full care is in the care guide. It covers enclosure size, temperature, humidity, feeding, molting signs and handling limits for this species. Read the Advanced guide, or the shorter Simple guide →
